Health Care Worker Tests Positive for COVID-19

The Brant County Health Unit has a laboratory confirmed case of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) for a resident of Brant County. The woman, who was assessed at Brant Community Health Care System, is a health care worker at Woodstock Hospital.

Limiting Entrances at Woodstock Hospital

UPDATE (March 26, 2020): The Athlone Avenue entrance is now closed until further notice. The main entrance will be open from 6:30am-8:00pm to accommodate early morning appointments for Dialysis/Chemotherapy patients. Patients are being contacted.

Changes to Visiting Guidelines

Woodstock Hospital Opens COVID-19 Assessment Centre

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Southwestern Public Health and community health care partners, Woodstock Hospital has opened a COVID-19 Assessment Centre for residents of Woodstock and Oxford County. There is a trailer on hospital property serving as the assessment centre (see attached photo). At this time, this is not a walk-in or drive up assessment centre. Patients are referred to this assessment centre by either a family physician or nurse practitioner, TeleHealth Ontario, Southwestern Public Health, or by calling 1-855-905-6148 and following the instructions. UV Disinfection System Arrives

Woodstock Hospital now has another tool to enhance cleaning throughout the facility. The new ultraviolet light disinfection system, combined with manual cleaning efforts, quickly and effectively kills harmful pathogens found in health care settings. The disinfection system uses remote sensors to ensure the correct dosage of ultraviolet light in the C spectrum is delivered to disinfect all areas and surfaces in the room. Expanded Testing at COVID Assessment Centres

As of May 24, 2020, the Ministry of Health expanded COVID-19 testing guidelines to gain valuable information about the spread of the virus in different communities across the province, and in an effort to help protect vulnerable populations. Gradual Reintroduction of Hospital Services

Woodstock Hospital is beginning to safely reintroduce surgeries, procedures and other services that were paused in anticipation of a potential surge of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases. The hospital’s proposal for the reintroduction of services was developed in conjunction with regional hospitals, and based on criteria outlined by the Ministry of Health. Providing Cancer Care Close to Home

The London Regional Cancer Program (LRCP) at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) is launching a satellite medical oncology clinic at Woodstock Hospital beginning on July 9. The clinic will be overseen by Dr. Paul Stewart, medical oncologist at LHSC, and will run each Thursday. This means that residents from Oxford County with a new cancer diagnosis could potentially have their consultation, treatment, and follow-up all completed at Woodstock Hospital, rather than travelling to London.
