X-RAY Preparation Instructions – Hysterosalpingogram Preparations

Patients MUST arrive 20 minutes before their appointment time. Patients arriving late may be rescheduled.

PREPARATION
– Exam should be booked 5-10 days after the first day of the patient’s menstrual cycle
-If the patient starts menstruating the day before or the day of exam, then exam needs to be rescheduled
– Pregnancy test (arranged through attending physician) required the day before or 1* hours prior to appointment time (if NOT postmenopausal)
– Patient must abstain from intercourse following the pregnancy test until after the exam
– No restrictions on food or drink
– Continue your medications as usual

POST EXAM CARE
– You may experience cramping similar to menstrual cramps from the exam. Your attending physician can advise you on any recommended medications.
