For your first appointment, please go to the Athlone entrance Registration Desk.  The Physiotherapy Department is located on the main level, M500.

Accessing this Service:

Your physician’s office can make the appointment for you, or provide you with a written referral and you can set up your own appointment. Remember to bring the referral (if you have one) and your Health Card with you on your first appointment.

Physiotherapists assess, treat and prevent many physical problems caused by illness, disease, injury, ageing and long periods of inactivity. Physiotherapists are skilled in the management of a broad range of conditions that affect the muscles, bones, circulation, respiratory and nervous systems. Following a thorough assessment, treatment may comprise of client education, exercises to stretch and/or and strengthen and various treatment modalities. Exercise equipment, electrotherapy, heat and cold packs may be part of the treatment. Physiotherapists are an integral part of the health care team whose aim is to return the client to their optimal level of function or prevent physical injury.
