X-RAY Preparation Instructions – Intravenous Pyelogram Preparations (incl. Voiding Cystogram)

Patients MUST arrive 20 minutes before their appointment time. Patients arriving late may be rescheduled.

PREPARATION
– If results of Creatinine are greater than high end of normal, ordering physician should discuss results with radiologist to confirm whether they will continue with procedure. Please notify Diagnostic Imaging Department
– No restrictions on food or drink
– Continue your medications as usual

CONSENT AND IV CONTRAST
– Contrast injection is required for this exam, so patient must be capable of giving informed consent (If incapable, the substitute decision maker must accompany the patient)
– Bring a written list of all current medications and allergies

POST-EXAM CARE
– Drink extra fluids, if able, each day for two days unless otherwise instructed by your doctor
– Resume normal diet and activity
