MRI Preparation Instructions – All Other MRI Exams Preparations

Patients MUST arrive 30 minutes before their appointment time. Patients arriving late may be rescheduled.

Please be aware that this is a “Fragrance Free” facility.

PREPARATION
– Take medications as usual. Medication patches may need to be removed for MRI scan.
– All patients are now required to change into hospital attire once they arrive for the MRI.
– If you have severe mobility issues and cannot change while you are here, please wear comfortable, metal free clothing including zippers, snaps, bra with clasps, and no moisture wicking materials. Cotton sweatpants, t-shirts, pajamas work well.
– All body piercings and jewelry should be removed before arriving.
– If you have hearing aids, please wear them to the appointment. We will remove them before the scan.
– Insulin pumps and certain CGM can be damaged by magnetic fields. Insulin pumps must be removed immediately prior to your test. Insulin pumps may be restarted following the test. If we need to remove your CGM, it cannot be reinstated, and a new one will need to be reapplied. For any questions regarding your device please contact the MRI department.

CONSENT
– The patient must be capable of giving informed consent. If incapable, the substitute decision maker must accompany the patient.

SEDATION
– Sedation may be required for patients with anxiety, pain management or claustrophobia at the physician’s discretion. THIS MUST BE PROVIDED BY THE ORDERING PHYSICIAN.
– Patients receiving sedation are NOT to drive themselves and should be informed of restrictions while sedated by a physician or pharmacist.
– It is recommended that sedation is taken 1 hour prior to appointment time depending on the sedation provided. Patients should be given full instructions by the physician or pharmacist
