The Pre-Admission Clinic is located on the main level of the hospital, in the Ambulatory Care Service Area.

The Pre-Admission Clinic at Woodstock Hospital helps prepare patients for their surgical procedure. Your surgeon’s office will make this appointment for you. Typically, appointments with the Pre-Admission Clinic are booked 2 weeks prior to surgery. The appointment will be scheduled as either a telephone call, virtually (through video conferencing) or in person* (see note below re: in person appointments during a pandemic).

The nurse will ask you questions about your health, in order to fill out the necessary pre-surgical paperwork.  The nurse will talk to you about your surgery / procedure and ensure that you have the information you need to know, including what to expect before and after your visit to the hospital. Please remember to bring your health card as well as a list of your current medications, including any herbals, vitamins and over-the-counter medications.  During this appointment, you may also meet with an Anesthetist who will discuss the anesthesia for your surgery and ensure any required tests are completed.  This appointment takes approximately 1 hour to complete.

*During pandemics, appointments will only be arranged virtually or by telephone, rather than in person. You will still receive the preoperative questionnaire from your surgeon which needs to be completed before your scheduled appointment with the nurse.
