Critical Care

Location:

The Critical Care Unit is located on the second level of the hospital, unit 2900.

The Critical Care Unit (CCU) is comprised of 12 beds that allow for treatment of patients with serious and life-threatening injuries and illnesses.

Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team which includes physicians, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers, spiritual care personnel, laboratory staff, and occupational therapists. With a focus on quality patient care, the unit is appointed with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies.

Programs embedded within daily practice in Critical Care include but are not limited to: Antimicrobial Stewardship, Trillium Gift of Life, Infection Prevention and Control, as well as bedside transfer of accountability. The CCU also works collaboratively with community and external partners such as pacemaker clinics and cardiac catheterization labs to ensure high quality patient care.

We encourage families to complete satisfaction surveys so that we may receive feedback and work to continually improve the overall family experience in CCU.
