PREPARATION
– Exam should be booked within the first 2 weeks following your menstrual period if possible
– DO NOT express ANY fluids/excretions from your breast the day of your appointment until after your exam
– If you have tender breasts, you may take two Tylenol tablets about 1 hour prior to your exam (at the discretion of your physician)
– Continue your routine medications as usual
– Do not use deodorant, talcum powder, ointment or creams on your breasts and underarms
– If you wear a dermal patch (Nitro, pain med. or hormone), do not place on the chest region
– Wear a two piece outfit (such as a blouse and slacks) as you will be required to remove everything from your waist up off and put on a hospital top.
– If you have long hair, please secure it back prior to your exam
